KÖNIG UBU/KING UBU
Alfred JarrySchlosstheater Moers
Premiere: August 17th, 2007
Alfred Jarry's KÖNIG UBU is a surreal grotesque. Ubu and his wife stand vicariously for dictators, military leaders, terrorists or bankers. This enfant terrible personifies greed - for anything and anyone. In the courtyard of the Schlosstheater Moers the actors impersonate a group of unemployed people who scavenge a heap of rubbish while fantasizing ever more radically and drastically of a life of power and wealth. Their obsessive longing is funny, ridiculous and terrifying at the same time. A wild and weird piece of open-air theater.
